Manager Allan Johnston claimed, especially on the basis of their second half performance, that his side were the only team that as going to win the game at Cappielow on Saturday.

“Too many times this year, against Morton especially, we have been caught with the sucker punch. The two goals were poor from our point of view. We know how dangerous Morton are at setpieces, we know that they get the ball forward with a lot of pace.

“We got caught with one all in behind so we are disappointed with the goals we lost. I could not fault the players for the great effort they put in.we created chances in really good areas so we need to finish them off. We cannot afford to be scoring three goals every game to win a game of football.”

The gaffer agreed that Nicky Clark was particularly unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. He contested the 40th minute offside decision that denied the Pars top scorer adding to his tally:-

“The one in the first, He was three yards on side. I have just seen it on the video. It is a great finish and it changes the game, he was well on side, I don’t know what the official has seen there. It was a really poor decision from his point of view because it was clearly a goal.

“These are the decisions that change games. If you get that and go on. I felt even at 1-0 we were comfortable and then we let them back in the game with the free kick.”

Told that Jim Duffy had just said that he felt that Morton had nicked the win. The manager commented:-

“You could probably say that about the last Scottish Cup game as well. It is maybe a bit naive sometimes that we get caught with basic errors, individual mistakes and given that we feel that we were the better team, it is probably frustrating again. We have got to pick ourselves up because there are a lot of big games coming up.”

New signing Tom Beadling made an impact scoring on his debut and the manager commented on the player who he had just brought in on loan from Sunderland.

“It is going to be a bit of a learning curve for him as well. He scored, did some good things, some stuff he has to learn from as well. It is always good when you come in and hit the ground running and score on your debut.”

Given the choice that you now have on the bench, did you not feel inclined to introduce some of the new options today?

“James Vincent has just come back. He had a game on Tuesday and then he trained Thursday but his hamstring was still a bit tight. He was feeling okay but we are trying to get him a wee bit sharper so that he is ready to play in the first team. He is not far away.

“Young Dan (Armstrong) is just in the door so I am sure that he will play a big part as well.”
