Natty Yellow Boots still not Striking

Monday, 15th Jan 2018

"I don`t normally shoot and that is why!

The draw against Dundee United on Saturday should be construed as two points dropped claimed Pars midfielder Nat Wedderburn:-

"We want to win all our home games and in the form that we have been on we were confident of going into the game for a win."

After three wins against the bottom three teams in the league, the draw against second placed Dundee United was still welcomed:-

"We have stuck together and kept believing because we know the quality that we have in the team. Once we got that first win, confidence has come more into the team."

Nat dismissed suggestions that confidence would have soared given his opponents woeful result at Falkirk:-

"We are confident of beating anyone in this league. They had a bad result last week and maybe that`s not the best thing because they would come and try and prove a point. It was just unfortunate that we did not get the win."

With St Mirren opening a 15 point gap between them at the top and third placed Pars, it might seem that a play off place is the best that could be achieved. Nat claimed that he and his team mates would not concede that the play offs could be the only possible route to promotion this season:-

"We will keep going. There are still a lot of games to play. We have St Mirren in a couple of weeks and if we can get a win over them you never know what can happen.

"I know it is difficult in this league but if we can get five or six wins on the bounce then we surely won`t be far off."

Nat has only scored one goal for Dunfermline, away to Morton in March last year but he had a couple of pops at goal that with a little more accuracy, could have been lucky enough to break the deadlock:-

"I don`t normally shoot and that is why! We have a lot of quality in the team, Joe (Cardle) has scored a lot of goals this season, Nick and Dec score regularly but you are not going to score on every game. There were chances there where it was a bit unlucky."

So without scoring goals it was even more important that the defence did not concede, Nat continued:-

"We were a big more solid like we have shown in recent games. W did not have many chances against us. We could have done better by putting the ball in the back of the net. All that was needed was just that one goal because I thought we were pretty comfortable."

The big Englishman felt that he did well in his personal battle with United`s Scott McDonald, he closed:-

"He is a good player and that is what you want to do, play against good players."
