Big Man ready for Big Game

Friday, 12th Jan 2018

"We want to catch the two teams above us so this week is going to be a big game.

Frenchman Jean-Yves M`Voto signed for Dunfermline from Raith Rovers on Quatorze Juillet, his country`s national day. He made his Pars debut as a sub in the Betfred Cup tie at home to Elgin City the following day and he started the first league match at Livingston on 5th August.

With Callum Morris and Lee Ashcroft occupying the central defence positions, Jean was not to start another match until the Falkirk game on 2nd January and that was just his ninth appearance. He kept his place in the winning team for the next match at Dumbarton and now he is hopeful that he can stay in the team.

"Ash and Cal were doing very well so I had to wait. Now it is about keeping in the team."

The form of Lee Ashworth and Callum Morris meant that there has been many minutes spent watching from the sidelines but Jean has tried to be there for the team every week. He accepts that one of the places that he is seeking to fill is that of the club captain. Jean said:-

"He is the captain and for me when you are captain that means that you are the leader of the group. I don`t think Callum is too worried about it."

The Frenchman`s inclusion in the team has coincided with two shut outs and two victories. He modestly played down any attribution to his personal performance:-

"At Dumbarton it was the whole team trying to get the result, we needed the result."

As focus turns on this week`s match at home to Dundee United the team will prepare well and be ready but not much can be read into United`s 6-1 defeat at The Falkirk Stadium, the 29 year old who commanded a fee of £300,000 when he signed for Sunderland from PSG in January 2008 continued:-

"I think all Scotland was surprised. Every game is different, Dundee United is a good team and that could maybe a one off. I know it was a really one off but I don`t think that they are going to repeat that this weekend. We just have to see a strong team out against Dundee United.

"It is going to be a hard game. There will be nerves but we need to show them that we are the better team because we want to push for more points.

"We want to catch the two teams above us so this week is going to be a big game. If we can get the first goal they could be nervous because they want keep the lead over us.

"We need to ready and just attack as we have done so far. There was not much between the teams in the last game up there. I think the pressure was on us because we knew that we had to catch them. Now they have the pressure because they have had the ups and downs. We are on a good run so the pressure is going to be on them."
