Allan Johnston said that his side made it difficult for themselves after totally dominating the game in the first half:-
"We should probably have scored a couple more. Their boy score doesn`t a wonder goal, it was a great strike and you could see the crowd turn against the players and get on their back.
"It is really difficult as a player playing in an environment like that. It is really hostile, it is like playing away from home. It was a great reaction from the players to come back, showing a bit of character to hang on there second half. We got the win that we needed.
"I think there have been a lot of games where we have not got what we deserved so I am delighted for the players that we got the win.
"We know that the second half was poor. It was amazing when the crowd started getting on their back. We made wrong decisions, slashing the ball and that probably happens when we are on a run like we are on just now.
"That is why you are calling for that wee bit of patience to get behind the team because it does make a massive difference. You can see just with the reaction of the players in the second half, there are a lot of young ones there and it can be difficult handling that."
The result, coupled with those elsewhere, takes Dunfermline into third place in the league, albeit 12 points behind St Mirren. The manager continued:-
"There are a lot of massive games coming up and the league is really tight. We just have to make sure that we focus on ourselves on the next couple of big games coming up."
The first half was full of good chances to extend the 1-0 lead into a much greater margin, the manager said:-
"Some of the football we played in the first half was brilliant, everybody was wanting the ball. We went from playing incredibly well in the first half to being really poor in the second half. It was just because we lost a goal.
"That is when you need everybody to rally round the players, get behind them and give them that it of confidence especially when we are on a run like we are on just now. Obviously the players show a bit of responsibility on the pitch - take the ball under pressure and make the right decision."
Asked if the win might reduce the nervousness in forthcoming games, AJ said:-
"We hope so. We want to go out to try and put in really good performances week on week out but we know that it is a results business as well. We are all frustrated with the run that we have been on so it is good to get the win but we cannot just have one win, we have to back that up with more wins and start challenging up the top where we want to be."
