Follow in the footsteps of Legends
Friday, 24th Nov 2017If you’ve passed East End Park recently you won’t have missed the brand new Legends Wall at the entrance to the Norrie and North West stand.
The Lifeline Committee, alongside General Manager Mikey Mlotkiewicz, have been working on the design and creation of the Legends Wall for some time and were delighted to see the complete installation at the end of last month.
The ‘Follow in the Footsteps of Legends Wall’ gives recognition and appreciation to past players to DAFC fans and the Dunfermline community. Deciding on players and managers who would take their place in the board proved a challenge for the committee and will no doubt generate discussion in the stands, local bars and your own living room as to who should be on it.
There could be disappointment for some if their hero hasn’t made the ‘cut’. With a history like Dunfermline Athletic’s, there would need to be a very large wall to include all of the past and present Legends. For that reason, the board will remain interactive and pictures and profiles will be changed and updated. The committee will engage with fans to get their views before any further updates.
In order to make the board to be more visible post-match, lights will be installed to illuminate the pictures.
However, one empty space/seat will always remain for YOU, the fans. This decision was made as the Lifeline Committee wanted to recognise the importance our fans play in the Lifeline and the football club. Almost 1000 fans continue to pay £20 every month to the Lifeline. This money goes towards supporting the club on a daily basis.
The Lifeline, operating since 2013, is now one of the largest financial contributors to the club with over £200,000 donated each year. The aim of the committee is to continue to provide such funds for the club, but to also engage with members on a more regular basis.
The designing, production and financing of the Legends Board continues our engagement in and around the football club. We also recently installed Winners Boards at the back of the Norrie, this was in order for fans who missed the announcement at half time and who may not have social media, are able to see who winners are at each game. These boards will inform members of draw winners and also any forthcoming fundraising events. The Winners Boards and Legends Wall were recently modelled Joe Cardle and Callum Morris.
We look forward to all fans enjoying and interfacing with the Legends Wall, taking lots of photographs with it along the way. Why not share your photos with us via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages and be in with a chance of winning a signed DAFC football.
Remember to add #DAFCFutureLegend to your photographs.
The Centenary Club Lifeline social media pages will also continue to provide regular updates about the Lifeline and forthcoming events.
The committee would like to thank Mikey, Signplus, and Craig Brown for their support in the creation, design and installation of the board.
