Andy asks for Anadin for Allan

Thursday, 23rd Nov 2017

"If you take your chance when it`s given, you hope to give the manager a headache when he comes to picking his team on a Saturday."

Andy Ryan was handed just his third Dunfermline start in Tuesday night`s match at home to Morton. Suspension to team mate Declan McManus led to the opportunity for the 23 year old to make his first Championship start and he notched another goal in the 1-1 draw to bring his Pars tally to six.

Despite scoring Andy felt that it was a frustrating match against Jim Duffy`s side:-

"We played well in spells but at times we were a bit sloppy and slack. Maybe in the final third, the final cross and the final pass could have been better. If they had been we could have walked away with the three points."

Lack of starts has been equally frustrating for the striker who was signed from Airdrieonians on 15th August this year.

"Any player wants to play games of football, I have been waiting patiently, working away hard in training just waiting for my chance. I think when you do get your chance if you have been working hard in training it keeps your fitness levels going. You have to be ready to go when your manager needs you, luckily for me I thought I did alright on Tuesday night and it was good to get a goal."

The player feels that all he can do is his best, and try and find the back of the net. He hopes that his performance against Morton has given Allan Johnston something to think about and after scoring against Queens Park last weekend and with two goals in two games, he could rightly feel that he is in contention.

The player who scored in 22 of his 41 appearances for Airdrieonians last season He continued:-

"Come Saturday I hope I am in his team. On the back of a good season last year I was used to playing every week. When you come to a new team they have a settled eleven and so you just have to be patient. If you take your chance when it`s given, you hope to give the manager a headache when he comes to picking his team on a Saturday."

Andy revealed that all the players were well aware that a win over Morton would have closed the gap on league leaders Dundee United and gone into second place. He felt that it was still too early to take much out of league position.

"We go out every week to try and pick up three points. It is always tight in this league no matter which team you play. I know people say that a lot but there is not much in it between the top and seventh or eighth. We need to try and go on a run like we did a few months ago, get a few results together and we could shoot up the league.

"Everybody is picking up points off everybody else, all we can do is focus on our game and try and win as many games as we can."
