Friday, 27th Oct 2017Ryzo is rewarded for all his hard work
Ryan Williamson today signed a one year extension to his current contract with Dunfermline Athletic. The 21 year old told the website:-
"The club has been brilliant with me through hard times and I enjoy it here, there wasn`t really any doubt in my mind about signing for another year.
"I worked as hard as I could to make sure I came back to pre season flying. Luckily I have done that and I have had a good run in the team which is what I have felt I have needed after my injuries. I like to think I have been playing quite consistently.
"This is the most that I have enjoyed my football in quite a long time so I am happy to get the deal done and look forward to another year and a half. I am looking forward to the promotion push this season."
Performances for Dunfermline have caught the eye of Scot Gemmill and Ryan has thoroughly deserved his call up to the Scotland U21s. Ryan was a second half substitute in the recent matches against England and Latvia. He is expected to be called up again for the matches in the next international break again net Latvia and Ukraine at McDiarmid Park. Ryan continued:-
"All my hard work, coming in early for sometimes for triple sessions, has paid off. Going through operations has all been worth it for moments like this and being called up for Scotland.
"I will keep working hard, keep trying to impress the manager and do as much as I can on a Saturday to help the team."
Allan Johnston said:-
"Ryan has been flying this year. You can see that he is getting back to his best. He has been picked for the Scotland U21s, it is great for the club that you have boys of that calibre playing in the team and wanting to commit their future to the club. Now he has to push on and work even harder."
The progression into the first team from the youth system for the likes of Ryan Williamson, Lewis Martin and Callum Smith gives encouragement to all the young players at the club claimed the manager:-
"It is brilliant for the club to be in a position to extend their contracts if there are good players like that coming through that they can be rewarded for their performances."
