Margaret Ross Memorial Fund
Tuesday, 3rd Oct 2017The Pars Supporters’ Trust are delighted to announce news of another award from the Margaret Ross Memorial Fund.
Fife Elite Football Academy (FEFA) player Josh Robertson becomes the second young player to benefit from the fund which was set up in memory of the late PST Chair and DAFC Director.
16-year-old Josh, a pupil at Perth High School, is registered to DAFC and has been selected to attend the Benfica Elite Academy in Portugal for the next two weeks, an experience which current Pars player Paul Allan benefited from in April of this year.
Head of FEFA, Bill Hendry said “I’d like to thank the Pars Supporters’ Trust for their invaluable assistance in helping to allow Josh take up this wonderful opportunity. He is excited at the prospect of what lies ahead and this excitement is also fuelled by the glowing reports regarding Paul Allan’s trip in April which the PST also helped fund. Josh is in his final year in the Academy and has been a Dunfermline Athletic player since 9 years of age. He made his debut for the Pars U20s at the ripe old age of 14! We wish Josh well in this new adventure”.
PST Chair Drew Main added “The fund was set up as a lasting memorial to Margaret with the specific intention of providing support for any young players associated with DAFC, so when asked to contribute £500 towards the cost of a trip which Josh will undoubtedly benefit from, the decision was an easy one for the PST Board to make. Having met Josh for the first time last week, it was obvious how much he was looking forward to the trip and I know Margaret would be delighted with us helping out in this way”.
The Margaret Ross Memorial Fund will benefit from the PST’s next fund raising venture being held in local restaurant Dine at 29 on 19th October. A few tickets (£20 each) are still available for the event, which consists of a two-course meal and raffle with Pars players in attendance and compered by PST member Jim Leishman.
