Allan Johnston praised Brechin City for putting up a good performance against his team. They came out of the traps at speed and earned a corner within 90 seconds. The Pars boss said:-
"Obviously at the first corner they got a free header after it was bobbling about. I thought Brechin did well throughout the game. They had a couple of chances but Sean Murdoch pulled off a couple of important saves and then we worked our way into the game.
"We looked a real threat from setpieces, their keeper had four or five good saves really good saves from setpieces and then eventually we scored from one of the corners. It was good to see one of the centre halves get a goal. That is great.
"Second half I thought we controlled it a lot better. Ryan Williamson was outstanding again with some of his deliveries and the problems he caused going up the right hand side, getting up and down the park and putting great balls as well.
"We got two of the goals from that and it just shows you the form he is on. As a team it was important to come here and get the result. I don`t think we played as well as what we could have played, but it was still pleasing to win."
Three goals, three points and table topping, it doesn`t get a lot better -
"It is a great feeling. These are difficult games when you are expected to go into games and win, it is really difficult. You can see that they (Brechin) were desperate to get a point, they gave everything today.
"We just had too much quality overall and deserved to win the game. Near the end we could probably have scored a few more as well."
It was certainly a lively performance from the Pars packed with energy. David Hopkirk came in and capably filled the vacancy caused by the injury to top scorer Joe Cardle:-
"We have a lot of good players, a lot of good options. You can see that with. The guys who came off the bench as well, there is a lot of quality in guys like Andy Ryan, Callum Smith and Aaron Splaine coming on. We have a lot of quality players and if we can keep on playing like that we will do well."
Three goals and three different goalscorers.
"Ryan Williamson obviously did great to get to the byeline a couple of times and pick people out. He has been working really hard on doing that and it`s paying off as well.
"Good finishes. Declan McManus` header was in the right place at the right time and the exact same with Nicky Clark as well. That is what you get from good strikers."
The pace of Ryan Williamson and the ability to get in crosses when most people would give up on the chance is something that impressed the local media and something that his manager feels should be attracting the attentions of the Scotland under 21 selectors.
"We must have some players in Scotland for him not to be in the Under 21 squad. He isn`t even round about it. It is not as if it is a one of, he has been doing it week in week out this season. He has been outstanding and I don`t think there is a better right back in the league.
"He is doing fantastic and he just has to keep that momentum going and hopefully that will catch the eye of the people at Scotland who obviously make the decisions."
