Allan Johnston was pleased that his side continued their growing habit of scoring early in games:-

"We are starting games really fast at the moment. The first goal came from a really good ball from Kallum Higginbotham. We got that side of them and Joe was in the box for the cross coming in. It was a really good start, we made a lot of chances in the first half and it is great to score so many goals."

The Pars manager felt that Dumbarton were fortunate not to be reduced to ten men just 19 minutes into the match when former Par Andy Dowie was shown yellow for a last man tackle on Declan McManus:-

"At the time it looked as though it should probably have been red. It looked as though Declan had got on that side of him. I think the referee thought that the keeper was going to get the ball but he was clearly never going to get the ball.

"It is one of those, they were probably to get away with that one but it just shows you the pressure that we were putting them under at that stage of the game.

"The second goal came from a really fast counterattack. We have a lot of pace about our team and Joe (Cardle) made a good final pass and obviously Higgy got the goal. That took just five or ten seconds from one end of the park to the other.

With just under thirty minutes of the match remaining Dumbarton might have been relieved to see Dunfermline withdraw their two front men. That relief would have been misguided since two of the three Pars substitutes went on to score.

"The third goal came from a great bit of work by David Hopkirk and Nicky (Clark) was in the right place at the right time. It just shows you the striking options that we have got and I thought the fourth goal was something special as well. It was a great bit of passing and a great finish from Andy Ryan."

Top of the league after four league games, the manager was delighted especially since the start to the season was the team`s downfall last season.

"We never started well enough, I think we have improved since last year. There is still a long way to go and we have to work even harder if we want to stay up the top of the league.

"We know that it is going to be a really competitive league. Look at the results today, there are no easy games in this league but I think we have players who can score goals. It was great to have a clean sheet today as well."
