Preview Elgin City
Thursday, 13th Jul 2017Betfred Cup: Saturday 15th July 2017, kick off 3.00pm at East End Park.
Adults £10, Concessions £5
Elgin City are Dunfermline`s first competitive opponents of the 2017-2018 season when they visit East End Park in the Betfred Cup. The League Two side missed out on a play off place by one point failing to level with Montrose and benefiting from the second best goal difference in their league.
Their fate was destined from 25th February the date of their last league win as they embarked on a twelve match winless run culminating with a 0-0 draw at home against Cowdenbeath on the final day of the season.
Elgin faced a strong Inverness Caley Thistle side last Saturday at Borough Briggs and ran out 2-0 winners with the goals coming in the final 25 minutes from Brian Cameron and sub Jamie Reid.
On Wednesday night they play the Mark Nicholson Testimonial match at home to a Celtic XI.
Elgin City have visited Dunfermline only once before, that was in the Scottish Cup in season 1982-83. On 29th January 1983 Dunfermline won 5-0 at home with doubles from Grant Jenkins and Gavin Tait adding to Derek Rodier`s early opener.
