After an ankle injury to first choice keeper, Deniz Mehmet, the club was delighted to welcome 22 year old goalkeeper Harry Sharp to KDM Group East End Park on loan from Dundee until January. He made his debut starting the opening Championship match against Airdrieonians on 5th august 2023.
Pars fans may recall Harry playing against Dunfermline in last season’s SPFL Trust Trophy tie at Dens Park.
Born and brought up in Aberdeen, Harry initially played with Dyce Boys Club and from the age of nine within the youth system at Aberdeen. When he was sixteen he was signed by Dundee’s under 18 manager, James McPake. Sharp was on the bench for two of Dundee’s Viaplay Cup matches in July but did not feature. He did play the night before joining the Pars in the first round of the SPFL Trust Trophy for Dundee B in their 4-0 win over Buckie Thistle.
He has made 22 appearances in total for Dundee since making his debut in September 2019 after keeper Calum Ferrie was sent off during the game an hour into the Challenge Cup tie against Elgin City.
Still only 20 years of age, Sharp made his first start for Dundee in the Premier League match draw away to Motherwell in March 2022. He went on to start another six league and cup games for Dundee that season.
Sharp began last season as first choice goalkeeper, starting all four Viaplay Trophy group matches and also started the season as Dundee’s starting keeper, before dropping to the bench in September.
The keeper was included in Scotland’s under 21 squad and on 2 June this year, Dundee announced that Sharp had signed a new two-year contract, keeping him there until the summer of 2025.
