cinch Reserve League: Aaron Brown (46) 0-1: Bobby Wales (49) 0-2: Bobby Wales (66) 0-3: Jake Sutherland (89) 1-3: Zander Craik (89) 1-4:

The reserve team showed four changes from that which lost 1-0 away to Dundee. In came John Tod, Michael Beagley, Owen Moffat and Alex Jakubiak replacing Chris Hamilton, Kane Ritchie-Hosker, Ben Summers and Andrew Tod.

Steven Warnock at 20 was the oldest player in the Kilmarnock team which included five 2005s, four 2006s and one 2007 - Ben Brannan.

Dunfermline kicked off and it was the home side that created the first opportunity when Liam Hoggan’s seventh minute cross was met by Taylor Sutherland’s glancing header but the ball fell wide left. Five minutes later keeper Aidan Glavin had to get down quickly at his near post to keep out a Hoggan shot that deflected off a defender.

It was the left upright that kept out a Jakubiak shot in 20th minute after Ewan McLeod had played a very good pass from his own half to put the Pars newest signing into the right side of the Killie box.

Chances kept coming and seven minutes n Sutherland avoided the offside trap and ran through to shoot from an angle on the left but sent the ball out beyond the far post. The visitors first endangered the home goal on the half hour when Warnock set up Wales but Max Little blocked the shot. Aaron Brown quickly had an effort that Sam Young snuffed out at the left post. He followed that up capitalising on a defensive mistake to test Little with a dangerous on target shot. The tall keeper dived to his left to deny the goal.

Five minutes from the break Jakubiak played a neat ball off Moffat on the edge of the Killie box and it took a good block to deny him again. Then in the second minute of added time Jakubiak headed a Fenton cross over the Killie bar to mean the teams would go in all square.

Half Time: Dunfermline 0 Kilmarnock 0

There were two substitutions made by the home team before the restart. Jakubiak and Allan went off making way for Jake Sutherland and Freddie Rowe. It took Kilmarnock only 28 second half seconds to open the scoring, Aaron BROWN carving a route through the Pars defence to slip the ball past Little. 0-1

Worse followed within four minutes with WALES running easily on to a ball that was lumped towards the Dunfermline goal. The Killie no.9 found the net just inside the left goalpost. 0-2

Little had to make a good save to deny Wales another in just 55th minute and then three minutes later when Moffat flattened Brown in the penalty box, referee Kyle Hall awarded a penalty to the Rugby Park boys. Warnock stepped up but smashed his attempt on to the left post.

On the hour Owen Moffat and John Tod came off to be replaced by Jake Rennie and Mark Beveridge. Kilmarnock increased their lead just six minutes later with WALES forcing his way through the centre of the defence to crash the ball past Little. 0-3

The Pars showed their mettle in trying to reduce the deficit and the Killie keeper had to dive to his right to save from Beveridge. Both Sutherland brothers has shots blocked, Taylor a headed effort wide right and Rowe a shot stopped on the line.

On 86 minutes Hoggan was sent scurrying up the left, his cross was switched on by Taylor Sutherland for Beagley but Glavin pulled off a fine save to keep him out. Then McLeod had a drive at goal from a Beagley cross that the keeper kept out.

The luck eventually changed when Jake SUTHERLAND drove the ball past the keeper in 89th minute. Unfortunately within the same minute sub CRAiK was able to restore the margin. 1-4

A disappointing result but a good exercise for the young side that mirrored the shape of the first team. Alex Jakubiak demonstrated what he can bring to the club. The 27 year old brought not just pace but the way he uses his body to bring others into the game and gives the club a different kind of threat.
