CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS 3 DUNFERMLINE RESERVES 1
Greg Shields took a young side to Christie Gillies Park to play under Civil Service Strollers newly commissioned lights. Joe Thomson was the only first team squad player on the park for Dunfermline but this was a match primarily arranged to give him game time.
The first real opportunity for the visitors came in seventh minute when Josh Robertson got deep up the left and his good delivery picked out Cammy Graham but he just couldn’t get the ball out of his feet quick enough to shoot.
The Fifers looked bright but suffered a set back when efforts to control a cross bounced into the path of the Strollers #9 and he tucked away in the bottom right the ninth minute opener. 1-0
Dunfermline quickly got over the setback and produced some good pieces of attacking football sadly without testing the keeper. But then on the half hour a weak pass back from Paul Brown put Ben Swinton in trouble and #10 beat him to the ball to net a soft second. 2-0
Swinton got a bit of luck when his left hand post then kept Civil Service out but in 34 minutes a cross from #7 on the right came back off the crossbar and #9 had a tap in. 3-0
Both teams had efforts that went well over the crossbars before the first half came to a close.
Half time: Civil Service Strollers 3 Dunfermline Reserves 0
The home side made three changes to their back four for the second half but it was the Fifers who got off to a good start with Cammy GRAHAM scoring within three minutes. Lewis Sawers ran on to a through ball, drew the defender before laying the ball of to his left for his team mate to finish. 3-1
The towering Alieau Faye was a 54th sub for the home side but he was not tested from the Pars corner. Then three minutes later when a Swanson cross was not properly cleared Graham was presented with a good chance but he blasted it wide left.
Three subs were sent on for Dunfermline in 63 minutes, Aaron Arnott, Mac Ramos and Kieran Mitchell replacing Kieran Swanson, Lewis Sawers and Cammy Graham.
Mitchell came close with a snapshot from 25 yards just six minutes after coming on.
A really good swift movement from Mitchell to Thomson and back swept the Pars upfield but then as Thomson on the top of the box slipped it to Coulson, Civil Service nicked in to regain possession. Pity because the move deserved better.
That was Joe Thomson’s last involvement as 71 minutes were deemed enough for his second match back and Brogan Walls came on in his place.
It had been a much better second half for Dunfermline against opponents who gave them plenty problems throughout.
