Reserves v St Mirren
Monday, 2nd Sep 2019SPFL Reserve League: Cameron Breadner (14) 1-0: Cameron Breadner (84) 2-0
ST MIRREN 2 DUNFERMLINE 0
Greg Shields took a young team to Paisley on Tuesday afternoon to play St Mirren at their Training Ground. Paul Allan was the only player included who had first team experience while St Mirren fielded Cameron MacPherson and 22 year old Oan Djorkaeff.
The home side dominated the early play forcing corners, saves and clearances. It was certainly not against the run of play when St Mirren took a 14th minute lead when Cameron BREADNER’s header from a corner landed in the bottom left corner of the Pars goal. 1-0
Allan immediately tried to haul the Fifers back into it but his effort from distance cleared the Saints crossbar. Then in 16 minutes he forced a save out of David Wilson before the home side resumed their attacks.
Midway through the half Jordan headed away a Breadner corner, then the defender blocked an effort for Joshua Jack and Josh Robertson cleared a Jamie Walker cross. Thomas Bragg disposed of a Djorkaeff ball into the box before at the other end Sawers reduced the pressure on his defence.
Wilson punched away a 31st minute cross and another Sawers cross two minutes later was cleared for a corner on the right. Matty Bowman fired an effort narrowly over the Saints bar and next when Sawers chased down the goalie Bowman had another attempt that was put out for a corner. The corner was cleared out as far as Cammy Graham but he was wide with his shot.
The Pars were unlucky when Graham first sent a shot wide and then when the target of a Kieran Mitchell pass St Mirren intercepted.
Half time: St Mirren 1 Dunfermline 0
In 58 minutes Robertson went down and required treatment after coming off worse against Djorkaeff in a challenge. The Pars left back was able to continued but two minutes later when Sawers was also cut down he had to hobble off and be subbed by Kieran Swanson. Greg Shields committed two other subs at the same time Graham and Robertson replaced by Lennon Watson and Mac Ramos.
After an interchange between Coulston and Ramos, Brown was able to have a shot at goal from 25 yards out that went behind off the Saints crossbar.
Jordan’s tackle on Djorrkaeff on the top of the box handed the hosts a 78th minute penalty but Ben Swinton dived to his left to turn MacPherson’s penalty away.
A second St Mirren was to come six minutes from the end from a free kick on the right that had earned Bragg a yellow card. When the ball came over Allan’s block spun up in the air and a host off players tried to get a touch with BREADNER the goalscorer with the final touch in a goalline challenge with Swinton and Jordan. 2-0
