Haws welcomed a teenager Dunfermline side for their first pre-season friendly. The 19:year old Trialist at right back was the visitors oldest player with all the others 17 and 18 except sixteen year old Thomas Bragg who was captain.
The pre season friendly assisted Hill of Beath Hawthorn in their preparations for the coming season in the Premier Division of the East of Scotland League where they open against Sauchie in two weeks time. Other opponents in that league will include Linlithgow Rose, Cameron, Dundonald Bluebell and Crossgates Primrose. The Haws have journeyed from Amateur in 1975, to Junior in 1982, Senior in 2018 and Full SFA membership 2019.
Dunfermline kicked off playing west to east but it was Haws winger Callum Adamson who had th3 fist shot on target. His second minute effort was blocked by Bragg. Two minutes later Adamson raced away down the right, sent Lee Reid a pass to take him to the corner flag from where he delivered a cross that Ben Swinton took under the challenge of Daniel Watt.
Trialist 6 made a great block to deny Watt close in but before the danger could be totally cleared Charlie Denton returned the ball from the left and ADAMSON rose to glance the ball Past Swinton and into the right side of the Pars goal. 1-0
Lewis Sawers brought the first save out of Haws keeper James Donaldson but in 13th minute a Lyle Kellachan cross from wide left picked out Lee REID at the back post and he got up to head in goal number two.
Payne’s corner from the right seven minutes later was only cleared as far as Ricky PATRICK lingering on the edge of the box and he drilled a shot through the crowded box to find the Pars net. 3-0
The next goal followed seven minutes later when a long goal kick was switched on to Adamson on the right and his cut back was slotted home at the near post by PAYNE. 4-0
Lewis Crosbie provided some relief sending a low but powerful 31st minute shot narrowly outside the left upright. Then Trialist 10 put in a good tackle to allow Sawers to pick out Crosbie on the left side of his opponent’s box but closed out he could only win a corner that was subsequently cleared.
Territorially Dunfermline were getting closer to the Haws goal and in 38 minutes Sawers tried a shot the screamed over the bar from the edge of the box. Another movement got the Pars back in front of goal, Sawers was closed out so it was Lucas Berry on the right who got in an attempt but that got blocked.
Just before the break the home side intercepted a pass in midfield and fed the ball for ADAMSON to burst into the right side of the Pars box. Swinton beat away the first fierce attempt but the opponent slammed home the rebound.

The home side made four changes at half time and were forced into a fifth just three minutes into the second half when Lee Reid had to be subbed and Steven Peggie came on.
A quickly taken free kick by Berry sent the Trialist 10 in for a shot but his well hit effort cleared the bar. Just when it looked like Dunfermline might score with Sawers breaking through in the middle one on one with the keeper, Donaldson’s outstretched foot deflected the ball behind. Two corners ensued in 62 minutes and from the second BERRY found the net striking a lay off from Trialist 10 low into the right side of the Haws goal. 5-1
Dunfermline continued to press and were looking particularly fast through the middle where they appeared to have found a Haws second half weakness. Crosbie pinged over a cross from the right, the keeper was beat but Shaun Leishman denied Trialist 10 at the far post.
Both sides committed their final substitutes in 73 minutes and within six minutes Dunfermline’s Xander THOMSON found the net. A Brown pass cleverly sent Crosbie in on the right side of the box and having drawn the defender he squared for the sub to slot home. 5-2
There was a seven minute delay after a nasty ankle injury to Haws Lewis Payne six minute’s from time. The number 10 was stretchered off.
That killed the game off really and although the referee added on the time for the stoppage there was little to report in the final twelve minutes of play.
It was a tough learning experience for Greg Shields` young team. After being overwhelmed in the first half, the Pars side was helped by the Haws substitutions and went on to win the second 45.
