The final Reserve League match of the season was played at New Central Park, Kelty on Easter Monday.
It was a bright sunny day with a temperature of 22C. Greg Shields welcomed back the Reserves captain Stuart Morrison and had Lewis McCann and Callum Smith upfront for the visit of second placed Hibs.
The visitors kicked off attacking the goal at the hedge end but it was the Pars who tested the Hibs keeper first. With just 70 seconds on the clock Maciej Dabrowski beat away McCann’s powerful header from a cross from the left. Lewis Crosbie sent in the resultant corner to be met by Thomas Bragg and then Morrison had a chance but it was sent over the bar.
Hibs began to get a passing game together but the Pars defence kept them well away from Cammy Gill’s goal, the Pars keeper easily holding a Callum Donaldson cross in 13 minutes from the right touchline.
Smith forced a Pars corner three minutes later but Hibs defended and at the other end Innes Murray cut in from the right to belt a shot on target that rebounded need away off the back of Morrison.
On 20 minutes Smith was unlucky to see his slip right for McCann intercepted on the edge of the box by the visitor’s captain Kevin Waugh. He next sent behind a McCann cross as Smith waited to net in the centre.
Gregor Jordan forcefully headed away a dangerous Ryan Shanley delivery from the left. Then two minutes later on 29 minutes, Murray from the left fed his pass on to Miquel Nelon on the edge of the Pars box and his squared ball to Oli Shaw made Cammy Gill tip a superb effort over his bar.
Eight minutes from the break Gill held crosses in from the right from firstly Lewis Allan and next minute from Shaw. Dunfermline were by no means out of things and Morrison did get in a shot from 25 yards out but he was too high.
Hibs looked like creating the opening in 40 minutes when Campbell got in behind the defence to cross from the right but Donaldson scooped the chance high up the hedge.
There was a brief stoppage for a clash of Jordan and Shaw heads and when play resumed Hibs took the ball up the right. A low ball to the near post in the first minute of added time, saw SHANLEY get the touch to send it past Gill. 0-1

From the restart McCann was sent down the right and he got in the first shot of the half after just 11 seconds. It was off target however. Josh Campbell hit a short taken corner across the Pars six yard box before Dunfermline got an equaliser. Paul BROWN was picked out on the left side of the Hibs box and he thumped the ball past the Hibs keeper.
The score would only remain all square for four minutes. Unfortunately an Innes MURRAY shot from the left side found the Pars net with a possible deflection off Bragg and it was 1-2.
From a 63rd minute corner sent over by Murray, CAMPBELL headed home with Gill unquestionably impeded. 1-3.
Smith made a speedy run on to a long ball into the left side of the Hibs box, he did well to win possession and tested Drabowski with a high shot. In 71 left back Nelom made an overlapping run to blast a shot on target that Gill did really well to turn behind.
Lucas Berry and Liam Newton replaced Smith and McCann for the last quarter of an hour. Berry got in an 81st minute shot but Drabowski held. There were appeals for a home penalty for hand ball by no.4 Kosovar Sadiki but the referee chose to ignore them. At the other end Gill pulled off a fine save to deny Shaw when he was through one on one.
Hibs deserved their win since this was a defeat against a team strengthened by a fair degree of experience. Greg Shields was pleased with his young team who applied themselves well.
