Stevie Crawford had four first team squad players James Craigen, Lewis Martin, Robbie Muirhead and Aidan Connolly in his team to face Dundee at Station Park, Forfar in the Reserve Cup. Lewis McCann was unavailable due to international duty with Northern Ireland Under 19s.
Dundee kicked off but it was Dunfermline who forced the first corner when Smith headed a second minute Connolly free kick behind. Stuart Morrison’s attempt from Lewis Crosbie’s delivery was headed away for another corner and from that one sent over by Connolly, Morrison got in a header that was cleared.
The home side’s early efforts saw Jean Mendy caught offside and next Martin clear a Lambert free kick. In 12 minutes Lambert took a corner short to Paul McGowan but that just led to a further one that Cammy Gill punched clear.
Two minutes later Muirhead sent a longe range effort over the bar. There were a couple of free kicks that gave the Pars opportunities with the better one from Martin seeing Muirhead head on for Connolly but just beyond him.
Dunfermline forced three corners around the half hour mark without testing the keeper while at the other end Madianga headed a 34th minute Dundee corner wide. Then Martin sent a low ball into the Dundee box but Muirhead just couldn’t control.
Six minutes from the break Gill got down low to his left to keep out a Moore free kick some 25 yards out. Another free kick was then headed over by Morrison and from the resultant corner Gill collected.
There followed two chances for the Pars to go in ahead. Firstly Muirhead picked up a loose ball but had two attempts blocked by the Dee defence and then after Connolly won a corner on the left, the defence cleared. The final opportunity of the first half from a diagonal pass from half way by Muirhead dropped for Crosbie but he was wide of target.

Dundee were first to threaten after the interval with Allan clearing from a Dundee corner and Moore firing over the bar. A Craigen cross from the right in 52 minutes was cleared out and then great pass from Allan picked out Sawers, but neither Lewis nor Muirhead were able to get a shot away.
Both sides had further chances before in 63 minutes Dundee scored what was to be the difference between the sides. They played a long ball out of defence towards Mendy and his back header fell to Matthew HENVEY who slotted it away just beyond the diving Gill. 1-0
Martin won a corner on left that Sawers took but the defence cleared but Craigen latched on to the defended ball to send it just wide of the right hand post.
Craigen blocked a Lambert cross for a corner that the Pars cleared before a double substitution in 71 minutes with Sawers and Jordan being replaced by Josh Robertson and Paul Brown. Martin moved into the centre of defence and Robertson took over at left back. Brown would play in centre mid and Brandon Luke went to wide left.
In the search for an equaliser Muirhead had a shot parried by keeper Elliott Parish and then cleared. An 81st minute corner on the right was taken short from Connolly to Muirhead but the cross was defended.
Two minutes later Crosbie made a good run on the right but his low ball in to the box is behind Muirhead and Dundee clear.
Sub Brown took the next corner and his ball in from the left was headed over by Dundee for another corner on the left. Bradbury headed away the second time and there was to be no late equaliser.
Dundee enjoyed majority of the play with McGowan the playmaker. Lewis Martin probably the best for the Pars but the team worked hard without getting the result.
