For the Monday night match at Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir John Potter had first team squad players in the shape of Lewis Martin, Callum Fordyce, Michael Paton, Gavin Reilly and Joe Cardle. Loaned out players Cammy Gill and Conner Duthie were also included since they had not played at the weekend.
Hearts went ahead in 16th minute when an Irving free kick from 24 yards out hit the post and PETKOV followed up to net. 1-0
Half time: Hearts 1 Dunfermline 0
It was a first half where the visitors were unable to take their chances whereas Hearts took theirs.
On the hour Dunfermline got back all square after FORDYCE met a Cardle corner when it came over from the right, to bullet the ball into the net. 1-1
Coach John Potter summarised the match:-
"I thought we started ok in the game, then they had a 15/20 minute spell where we couldn’t get a grip of it and then ended the first half quite well. When Hearts scored it was slightly against the run of play and it was from a free kick which went round the wall and hit the post – an element of luck you could probably say but we are disappointed with that.
"The second half I thought we were quite good for most of it and got the ball into good areas, but the final wee bit was maybe not good enough.
"Probably a draw was fair but I thought in the second half we could have shaded it. We got into enough good areas, and good balls but disappointed that we did not work the keeper more.
"We had shots from distance and that’s something that we have been working on and getting into wee areas and some of the play was good. We scored a good goal from Callum with a header from a set piece and had other good bits of play, especially in the second half when I thought we were good. Disappointed not to win."
