DUNFERMLINE 0 RANGERS 1
After a lengthy absence, Dunfermline returned to East End Park for this Development League game. Rangers kicked off towards the Norrie McCathie Stand.
The Pars first threat came from James Thomas, after just being caught offside in fifth minute, he had a chance a minute later but it was the visitors who won the first corner of the afternoon. Ryan Sinnamon sent that over from the right but Robbie Crawford blocked Tom Lang's header and the ball was cleared.
Again Thomas had an opportunity but was unable to put the chance away. Three minutes later in 14 minutes Conner Duthie supplied Thomas with the pass that allowed him to fire on target but Rangers keeper Robbie McCrorie saved the shot.
The Ibrox side then forced two quick corners firstly off Shaun Rooney and then off Duthie but Rooney headed the second one clear. Cammy Gill was not troubled in gathering a Zak Rudden effort but at the other end McCrorie was made to save from Crawford after good link up in play between Luke and Thomas.
Dylan Dykes sent a 20th minute Rangers free kick wide from 25 yards out while at the other end there were two chances for the home side. Evan Horne delivered a dangerous cross but their were no takers and a wild shot was over skied over the bar and wide by Duthie.
Then it was Rangers turn to pressurise; Rooney recovered to clear the danger from Dykes, Gill saved at the second attempt from Rudden and Rooney stopped a shot from Max Ashmore.
On 32nd minute Crawford chipped a ball over and Thomas had an opportunity but keeper gathered. Duthie was next to get a chance to test the Gers keeper but his final shot was weak. Next Duncan and Luke combined to set up Horne but he was closed out before he could get his shot away.
A Rangers corner from the left was hit through the Pars box through the box and at the other end Duthie won corner but Tom Lang headed Crawford's cross clear.
Rangers had the final chance of the first half but Gill gathered from Rudden and it was stalemate at the break.
