FALKIRK 2 DUNFERMLINE 2
Having got two goals ahead the Pars conceded twice in the last twenty minutes and given the side included six first team squad players the result the Falkirk Stadium was disappointing.
The visitors kicked off and Mickael Antoine-Curier threatened early on but was caught offside when Ryan Wallace played a through ball. Falkirk played a dangerous ball into Dunfermline box that was cleared by Shaun Rooney before James Thomas had the first shot on target.
The Pars went ahead early on; just six minutes gone when a Rooney pass set up ANTOINE-CURIER to net his shot from just inside the box. 0-1
Two minutes later Falkirk keeper Alex Tokarczyk cut out a good PJ Crossan ball into the box and still within the opening ten minutes Wallace hit the crossbar with a lob over the keeper.
The home side forced two corners in quick succession but it was a move involving Alex Cooper and Liam Dick that set up Thomas Grant for a shot that went wide right. Antoine-Curier continued to be involved coming close to adding to his tally from a Wallace cross and then getting caught offside from a Rhys McCabe pass.
David Hutton showed off his ability turning a Kevin O'Hara effort in 25th minute over his crossbar for a corner that was to do no damage.
Cooper hit the crossbar with a long range attempt, then O’Hara just missed a Scott Shepherd’s across goal ball before Cooper set up Shepherd who hit the post. Cooper then had a well placed free kick turned over David Hutton.
Half Time: Falkirk 0 Dunfermline 1
Falkirk got the second half underway and forced two early corners with Blair coming closest from the second one but still sending his shot over the bar. Just three minutes in the second half the Pars squeezed in a second. Paul Joseph CROSSAN got clear on the left and have cut in slid the ball in from a tight angle. 0-2
Cammy McClair kept Falkirk out with a clearance off the line with Huttion beaten. O'Hara fired a shot over the bar from close range while at the other end player/coach Alan Maybury narrowly avoided turning a Rooney cross into his own net.
Midway through the half McClair got forward but there were no takers for his shot. With twenty minutes remaining Ryan SINNAMON pushed forward and hit a low drive into Hutton’s bottom left hand corner. 1-2
Hutton made another save from Sinnamon before in 75th minute JOHNSON scored the equaliser from a corner. 2-2
Falkirk made every effort to use the momentum to earn an equaliser. Cooper and Johnston both shot wide, Antoine-Curier headed clear from a corner and in 86th minute McClair again cleared off the line. At the final whistle it was somewhat of a relief to survive with a point.
