DUNFERMLINE 1 HAMILTON ACCIES 3
It was a stronger under 20s team than last time out that Andy Barrowman was able to field for this, the final home SPFL Development League match of the season. Ross Millen continued at centre back but found himself paired with Gregor Buchanan. Kyle McAusland and Ryan Thomson lined up in the centre and upfront Allan Smith partnered James Thomas.
The Pars did most of the early attacking with both full backs Jordan Orru and Scott Mercer sending in useful deliveries. Smith even had the ball in the Hamilton net but he had been offside.
The visitors first threat came from a Steven Boyd free kick on the left that found the head of the big centre back Ali El Zubaidi but his effort was blocked and then in the next foray Daniel Armstrong sent his shot wildly off target.
A Mercer free kick then caused problems for Hamilton and Thomas rose to head the cross but unluckily was wide right of target. The Lanarkshire side were to come more into the game, with more possession in the Pars half and in 24 minutes good link up by Armstrong and Docherty set up Kieran MacDonald to lob the ball into the Pars box but the headed attempt went outside Cammy Gill's left hand post.
A counterattack led by Thomson sent Thomas down the right but only a corner could be won and that was easily defended. Then on the half hour a break by MacDonald earned a corner on the left. Hamilton took their chance when Boyd centred, Craig WATSON met the ball at the near post to glance his header past Gill. 0-1
Hamilton continued to push up with the comfort of the lead. Eamonn Brophy caused problems but it was a cross field move from the right started by Watson, through MacDonald to Docherty on the left that ended up with a cut back from the byeline for BOYD to stab home. 0-2.
The remaining six minutes of the first half were pretty even and the Pars failed to make anything out of the last setpiece a Mercer corner from the left that failed to trouble the defence.
Half time: Dunfermline 0 Hamilton Accies 2
Hamilton replaced Nicolas Sumsky with 17 year old Darren Smith for the restart but it was the Fifers who the first good opportunity of the second half after McClair made ground in from the left ans Smith was unlucky that his backheeler was read.
On 55 minutes Gill held when the visitors broke with Armstrong and Docherty got in a low but powerful shot. Two minutes later Eamonn BROPHY used all the experience of his 17 first team appearances this season to hold off the challenge of Orru and sick a good finish in at the far post.
Dunfermline then made a double substitution withdrawing Gavin McMillan and Cammy McClair to make way for Johnny Galloway and Robbie Crawford to play the last half hour. The home side forced a couple of quick corners but at no stage threatened Blair Currie's goal.
Paul Joseph Crossan came on for James Thomas but it was MERCER who was to find the net. it was 79th minute when he dispossessed 18 year old Hamilton sub Colin Grainger and smashed home from the edge of the box. 1-3
Gill had a fine save from Brophy four minutes from time and try as they did, the Pars were kept out by a resolute Hamilton defence.
