U20s v Falkirk
Wednesday, 3rd Dec 2014SPFL Development League: Faissal El Bakhtaoui starts. Finn Graham (16 pen.) 1-0
DUNFERMLINE 1 FALKIRK 0
Dunfermline welcomed the Bairns of Falkirk to East End Park for this SPFL Development League match on Tuesday night. There were not as many goals as of late but the run of wins was maintained by a young team. Coach John Potter was named to start in the centre of the defence but before the match kicked off Stuart Morrison was drafted into that role. Faissal El Bakhtaoui partnered young James Thomas upfront.
The Pars had a quiet start but a 14th minute corner sent over by Sorel Chemin in 14 minutes just cleared El Bakhtaoui's head. Two minutes later Chemin latched on to a loose ball and after his shot was blocked Falkirk defender Ryan McGeever brought down Thomas. Referee Lorraine Clark pointed to the spot and skipper Finn GRAHAM stepped up to fire the ball low to the keeper's left. 1-0
Scott Mercer caused the visiting defence a few problems and was unlucky when he launched the ball through the box that nobody could convert. Olumide Durojaiye tested Pars keeper Ryan Goodfellow on 25 minutes before a move from Declan O'Kane to Lewis Spence fed Cammy McClair an opportunity that he sent over the bar from just inside the box.
Mercer was yellow carded four minutes later for a foul on Thomas Grant on the edge of the box. When he subsequently took the setpiece Goodfellow parried it away for a corner that was successfully defended. Before the half was over El Bakhtaoui headed wide from a Mercer corner.

In the second half, first danger came from a Grant shot that cleared Goodfellow's bar. At the other end O'Kane headed a cross from the left but Graham Bowman held. Next Bowman had to be alert to tip over a Spence shot and then from Mercer's corner from the left the goalkeeper punched clear.
A 58th minute free kick was easily saved by Goodfellow and next Scott Shepherd replaced Robbie McNab in the first substitution of the night. Gavin McMillan and Paul Joseph Crossan came on for the Pars with Cammy McClair and James Thomas going off.
The Falkirk sub fired an attempt over the bar and Dunfermline missed chances to increase their lead. Both Pars subs had subsequent opportunities too but there were to be no more goals.
Another good win for Potts team. They played well against a more experienced team.
