Tuesday, 28th Oct 2014SPFL Development League: Sorel Chemin (20) 0-1; Andy Stirling (82) 0-2; Sorel Chemin (85) 0-3; Ola Ademeyo (92 pen.) 1-3
DUNDEE UNITED 1 DUNFERMLINE 3
John Potter had the luxury of an experienced starting eleven while in fairness Dundee United fielded a young team. Ryan Thomson, Ryan Williamson and Andy Stirling added strength to the Dunfermline side who threatened first from a corner on the left.
A minute later in seven minutes keeper Marc McCallum beat Allan Smith to the ball to kill the danger. At the other end Declan O'Kane, back from his loan spell at Montrose, cut out a potentially dangerous through ball.
Sorel Chemin showed his skills on the left before finding Gozie Ugwu who then found Williamson but his run ended with a goal kick. In 20th minute the Pars were awarded a free kick on the right when Stirling was fouled. When the setpiece was delivered United defended but CHEMIN gathered and sent a left footed effort from the edge of the box low into the net. 0-1
Six minutes after taking the lead a corner from the left executed by Chemin found Thomson's head but his effort just scraped over the bar. The home side had a chance in 29 minutes when Scott Lockhead's cross looked like reaching Reghan Tumilty but Williamson intercepted.
Gozie Ugwu shot at the keeper and at the other end Jamie Montgomery sent a long range effort at Cammy Gill. Three minutes from the break Smith was wide, right and also flagged for offside at another Pars corner. Then in a confused incident Chemin played on as the defence looked for a decision. The Frenchman's shot went for a corner that came to nothing.
Half Time: Dundee United 0 Dunfermline 1
The second half saw two Ugwu shots blocked before Scott Mercer replaced Stuart Urquhart seven minutes into the half. Williamson's cross then picked out Thomson with his cross and the 23 year old midfielder sent another chance over the crossbar.
United could not be forgotten and a 69th minute free kick was blocked by the defensive wall before the follow up was sent into the arms of Gill. Next Stirling won a corner and when he sent it over Mercer's header sent it over.
The Pars missed a couple more chances before increasing their lead in 82 minutes. A Chemin cross from the right was missed by James Thomas but STIRLING was on hand at the back post to make it 2-0.
Three minutes later CHEMIN sent a 30 yard effort high into the top right of the United goal. 0-3. The home side got a consolation in the second minute of added time. Jordan Orru brought down Ademeyo and referee Willie Ferguson pointed to the spot. ADEMEYO sent the ball right as Gill went the wrong way. It finished 3-1 to the Pars who thoroughly deserved to win.
