U20s v Aberdeen
Tuesday, 13th Nov 2012Clydesdale Ba
Coach John Potter thought that his side started poorly and lost a bad goal after just quarter of an hour.
"We didn`t deal with Rory Fallon upfront and didn`t stop the crosses. They got the first goal although the Manager tells me it was offside. Their second goal came from a penalty when we had no idea why it was a penalty. We got a bit down on ourselves because of the refereeing decisions.
"Then we came out a bit and started the second half well for ten minutes but lost a sloppy goal. Ryan Goodfellow was a bit disappointed with it but it was a good goal. We couldn`t get near them so we changed it.
"We got a goal back with ten minutes to go, we had claims for a penalty that the referee didn`t give. They were the better team and deserved the win."
There was a positive to take from the defeat with Blair Henderson scoring in only his second game back after injury:-
"He worked away hard and I feel that there is so much more to come from his game. Hopefully he watched that today and learned to play the role that Rory Fallon did."
Aberdeen went ahead after just fifteen minutes when a cross from the right was headed down by Rory Fallon for Declan McMANUS to slot past Goodfellow from close range. The Fifers had a chance five minutes later when an Alex Whittle corner from the right was met by Kerr Young at the far post but keeper Danny Rogers saved.
Blair Henderson then connected with a Shaun Byrne cross but Rogers again thwarted the Pars luck. Aberdeen were awarded a penalty after Millen allegedly tugged McManus` shirt. FALLON scored to put the `home` side two ahead with just less than half an hour gone.
A free kick in 36 minutes was switched from Byrne to Millen and his cross aimed at Henderson only yielded a corner. Four minutes into the second half Grant Munro overlapped up the left and after a blocked cross Byrne lofted the ball over the Dons defence for Henderson but the keeper was first to the ball.
Jordan Brown`s curling shot from 25 yards on 56 minutes beat Goodfellow to make it 3-0. The Pars got a goal back but by that time there were only eight minutes left. HENDERSON took advantage of a blocked O`Kane shot to find the net. Byrne was brought down in the box in 88th minute, the linesman raised his flag but no penalty was given. The scoring wasn`t over as a free kick from the right dropped for Joe Shaughnessy to convert.
