Pars gaffer Jim Jefferies made the trip to Dingwall on Sunday to watch his U20s side succesfully progress to the next round of the SFA Youth Cup. Goals from Scott Gray and Declan O`Kane did the job.
The opening goal came in the eighth minute when a low cross from the right by Alex Whittle was converted by GRAY, sliding in to accept the chance.
The second goal was disputed by County but really with just two minutes of the 90 remaining, possibly academic. Ross Millen delivered the ball in from the right, Gray and sub Declan O`Kane attacked the cross as the home keeper Sean McCarthy challenged. It was O`KANE`s header that sent the ball into the County net with the home side claiming that their keeper had been fouled but the goal was given and Dunfermline were through.
Coach John Potter discussed the game with the website:-
"I thought we started well and had a good first fifteen minutes. We got a goal and probably should have got one or two others then. We became a wee bit sloppy and let them into it more. There wasn`t much in it in the first half it became end to end but we were the better team in the second half without creating loads of chances.
"I never felt that they were going to score but the longer it goes on at 1-0 there is danger. We got the second goal in the end and deserved the win without playing great. We came here to Dingwall to get through and we did that."
