Dunfermline lost out to Motherwell by two penalty conversions to one at Stirling University on Friday afternoon. The Fifers fell down by not getting into the opposition half often enough and when they did not working the ball sufficiently. When they did enjoy periods of possession Motherwell encountered problems.
It was however a game of few chances but Coach Hamish French felt that Motherwell passed the ball around the better and he said:-
"They got all their players involved in the play, whereas we could have done more to get on the ball. We need to get on the ball in all areas of the park."
Dunfermline scored first on the half hour. After two successive corners Blair Henderson was fouled in the box and Ross MILLEN sent the keeper the wrong way to score from the spot for the second game running. Steven Mayne dived into an attacker`s feet to concede a penalty to Motherwell in 53 minutes and Lee ERWIN put that away as Mayne chose to go the wrong way.
Disappointingly Henderson was injured in 62 minutes with an injury to his right shin. Adam Cummings was booked for the tackle but seven minutes later the visitors were awarded another penalty for Jordan Brown`s challenge on Erwin on the edge of the box. ERWIN stepped up to make it a brace. The Pars were denied a last minute equaliser when Scott Mercer`s shot was saved by Stewart.
