Friday, 24th Feb 2012Hamish French`s side go down to two goal defeat at Stirling University
MATCH PICTURES
Dunfermline`s young side was faced with difficult conditions given the strong wind and the bumpy pitch. His side started off well but after St Johnstone went ahead through a Gareth RODGER goal from an 11 minute corner, the visitors took a grip of the game.
The Saints increased their lead on 28 minutes when Ricky McINTOSH netted although there were strong appeals for offside since the goalscorer seemed to be returning from an offside position.
Coach Hamish French felt that his side lost two disappointing goals. "We didn`t do enough, we weren`t strong enough and they were just that bit more physical than us. The second half was better, the challenges were better and they learned to compete. We defended better and hoped to get a break for a goal at some point but never got that wee break in front of goal.
