ST JOHNSTONE 3 DUNFERMLINE 2
Dunfermline faced St Johnstone in an SPL Youth league match played at Stirling University on Friday. The Pars started really well taking the lead in nine minutes. The goal came from a move down the left when Shaun Byrne fed Ross Drummond the ball for a good cross that Blair HENDERSON converted at the near post.
The Pars were well on top but the hosts got back into the game in 32 minutes when Jack Bruce lost possession allowing Saints to break quickly and score. The teams were level at half time but St Johnstone went ahead in 59 minutes. There goal came from the right side with their midfielder smashing the ball into the net from 25 yards.
It was all square again within two minutes. A cross from the left confused the Perth side`s defence and the ball fell nicely for BYRNE to poke in the equaliser. Unfortunately, Hamish French`s side lost a goal with only eight minutes remaining. Having been on the offensive, Dunfermline saw the ball being played back to the St Johnstone goalkeeper and he launched a long ball wide to the left that was flicked on and caught out the Fifers defence. Their striker slid the ball home to confirm their victory.
