DUNFERMLINE 0 AYR UNITED 3

Eight players on either side faced each other in the Reserve League Cup only four days prior to this SFL U19 League match but the result was a total turnaround. Playing against the wind at the Fleet Ground in the first half, the visitors had the better of the possession and Pars keeper Ryan Goodfellow pulled off a good save to keep Dunfermline in it.

The Pars had chances of their own, most notably Steven Leslie one on one with keeper Darryl Jones but sending his lob over the crossbar.  Kerr Young too had a free header from a corner that might have paid off but at the break a draw was possibly the fair scoreline.

Half Time: Dunfermline 0 Ayr United 0

Dunfermline had the better of the opening 20 minutes of the second half, creating numerous chances.  Twice Leslie had one on ones with the keeper and twice keeper Jones pulled off the vital save. 16 year old Fraser Moncrieff looked likely as well but the ball bobbled up as he shot and the effort went weakly past.  Leslie then had a header that was well stopped by the keeper.

Having survived the pressure Ayr, under the watchful eye of their first team manager, Brian Reid, put a dangerous ball into the box in 70 minutes that Goodfellow punched away.  The ball was returned through a mishit from the edge of the box and turned into the net from a suspiciously offside looking Ayr player.

It was an unfortunate way to go behind and the visitors took a lift from their lead. As Dunfermline pushed to get back into the game Ayr broke.  Goodfellow did well to save the first attempt but netted the ball that broke.  In the final minute Ayr added another, striking from midfield to send the ball flying into the net.
