Two goals in a minute put Dunfermline in the driving seat in this SFA Youth Cup Third Round match. Harry McGREGOR scored from the penalty spot in tenth minute after Stefan Scougall had been fouled by Sons Jamie Hamill. Barely had the opposition time to get over their setback when a quickly taken free kick by Scougall put Jordan WHITE in to score number two.
Dunfermline were comfortable after that but Dumbarton had opportunities to get back when Alan Cook hit over the top from a free kick on the edge of the box. Keeper Craig Bald hadn`t time to get cold though as Daly McSorley and Ryan Gray both hit shots at him..
In 29 minutes a Scougall cut back for Leslie was well cut out by a Dumbarton defender while ten minutes later Leslie had a powerful shot deflected on to the post. Dumbarton`s Cook connected well from a free kick out on the right but in a busy six yard box Bald fisted away to safety.
Just before the break Lewis Turner fed a neat ball into the path of John MacDonald but his luck was out as the ball travelled over the bar.
Half Time: Dunfermline 2 Dumbarton 0
Aaron Scott popped a 52nd minute shot over the bar and Craig Winslow tipped over a fine Turner effort just three minutes later. White and Leslie worked a good interchange to create an opening through the centre of the visitors defence in 59 minutes but the tall strikers shot was sliced wide right from ten yards.
Dumbarton had a few close things with Liam Mushet`s header pushed over his bar by Bald but it was soon back at the other end with Turner twice unlucky not to add to the score. Both efforts came from White lay offs but he hit one wide and the keeper dealt with the other.
Conner SCHIVONE made an instant impact after replacing Leslie with quarter of an hour to go. Within a minute Dean Elder made the opening down the left, playing the ball off Conner before the keeper`s parry from his shot was easy meat for the sub and the Pars were 3-0 up.
Dumbarton were awarded a penalty in added time for a handball in the penalty box and McSORLEY struck the ball past Bald for what was only a consolation.
