DUNFERMLINE 3 QUEENS PARK 5

MATCH PICTURES
There were plenty of goals at the Fleet Ground on Sunday afternoon but after losing a goal in the second minute Hamish French`s team were always behind. Missing Jordan White and Harry McGregor held in reserve for action in Tuesday`s forthcoming closed doors match against St Mirren, the U19s were otherwise at full strength.

Waleed NADEEM curled in a free kick from 25 yards into the bottom left of Craig Bald`s net for the opener and then at another free kick from the left touchline 11 minutes later Kevin GREEN rose at the far post to head in number two.

Dunfermline`s best efforts came after they sprung Queens offside trap. Firstly Lewis Turner was free on the right to deliver a good cross in towards the advancing MacDonald but the pass was critically intercepted in front of goal. Then on the half hour MacDonald broke through on the left and he released a shot at McPherson in the visitor`s goal but the keeper held his low driven shot.

In between Bald had to go off with a dead leg and former Hutcheson Vale keeper Danny Gunn replaced him in the Dunfermline goal. The Glasgow outfit passed over two good chances to extend their lead before scoring a third just a minute from the break. A long ball was deflected into the path of Scott Norton and the no.11 made no mistake slotting home at the near post.

Turner had a good blast at goal just on the whistle but the ball sailed narrowly wide left and high. The Pars did get a goal back in 52 minutes when Stefan Scougall laced the ball through to Chris Lennon and his lay off was perfect for TURNER to net from the right side of the box. Unfortunately the 16 year old fell awkwardly in the process, injuring his shoulder and had to be substituted not long after.

Lennon had a near thing four minutes later, flashing the ball across the face of goal and then in 63 minutes chose to shoot at the keeper when Scougall was well placed to finish a cut back. Six minutes later Lee Graham was adjudged to have halted former Pars youth player Nathan Lockley and the visitors were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. NADEEM sent a screamer through the six man wall to beat Gunn at his left hand post.

At 4-1 down it looked bleak for the Fifers but a Rees Smith free kick from the left brought them a second goal. Graham rose at the far post and his header handed Steven LESLIE the chance to head home from close in. Then four minutes later in 76 minutes the deficit was cut to just one goal when Chris Lennon`s bullet from an acute angle rattled down off the crossbar to give McPherson no chance.

Queens Park finished strongly however, putting the result beyond doubt from an 85th minute Steven Baillie free kick. The home defence was caught out as the flighted ball was met by Nadeem on the left side of the penalty box. His header was stopped by Gunn but Norton followed up to eat up the chance.
