The Pars got off to the best possible start with a goal after just 19 seconds. Stirling won the first of the League Cup encounters 3-2 just four weeks ago but the return at the Fleet Ground on Friday night was in no doubt after Lewis TURNER headed home a lethal cross from Chris Lennon. The ball rattled in off the left upright and was back in the same net in ninth minute.
The second goal came as the ball was worked in field from the left, Ryan Thomson tried to prod the ball into the penalty box. The ball was blocked but rebounded to Aaron SCOTT who drove in from 25 yards.
Danny Cawley punched away a well delivered free kick from Rees Smith. Whiteford headed another dangerous cross from Conner Schivone over the crossbar. Chris Lennon made a good break but he chose not to shoot himself but to square the ball for Turner. Jordan White accepted the touch from Turner but was falling backwards as he shot and lifted the ball over the crossbar.
Five minutes before the break a Turner corner from the left was met by Schivone but his header came back off the base of the post and Ryan THOMSON scooped the loose ball into the top of the net.
Whiteford was forced off in 41st minute with a cut above his eye but his substitute John CHALK scored within two minutes. A fairly harmless looking ball from Scott Younger was left and the newly introduced sub took a simple chance to bring a little respectability to the scoreline at half time.
Lennon had an early second half chance deflected for a corner but playing with the wind on their backs, Albion threatened. Don Morrison headed a corner on target only to see that cleared off the line. Kenny Govan broke through the centre and laid the ball in the path of Trialist but his effort was blocked and then Morrison headed a Miller corner narrowly wide.
Dunfermline increased their lead in 58 minutes when a Turner corner in from the right travelled through a ruck of players for Ryan THOMSON on the edge of the box and he powered that home.
Jordan White and Dean Sharkey had chances when through on Cawley but it took defender Rees SMITH to net at an acute angle ten seconds from time to make the scoreline much more emphatic.
