Reserves v East Fife
Monday, 13th Apr 2009Young Reserves lose out in Methil
EAST FIFE 1 DUNFERMLINE 0
Greg Ross will be 22 next month but on Monday night he found himself the veteran in the reserve side that travelled to face East Fife at Bayview. His 89 first team appearances also made him by far the most experienced Par on the pitch. It was credit to his youthful team mates that the vastly more experienced East Fife team were restricted to a 1-0 victory.
It was a hard fought first half with both sides having scoring chances but the keepers remained virtually untested at the break. Best first half chance fell to Jordan White who just failed with a header on a fine cross in from the left by Scott McBride.
Just before the interval Ryan Thomson flashed another header narrowly past the post but on the resumption the Pars were caught cold. East Fife drove a long ball causing Harry McGregor to foul on the edge of his box and Goran STANIC netted from the free kick.
Dunfermline came back at East Fife with a Paul Willis run and cross creating a good chance for McBride at the far post. Unfortunately that was not taken and although the visitors continued to press they failed to find the equaliser.
