DUNFERMLINE 0 RAITH ROVERS 5
Dunfermline came up against a stronger, more experienced Raith team and the full timers overwhelmed their Fife rivals in this U19 league match played at Dalgety Bay on Sunday afternoon.
The Kirkcaldy side had the bulk of the early pressure without troubling Pars keeper Craig Bald too much. It was the midway stage in the first half when good individual play by Neil McCabe produced the first goal. Receiving a throw in on the right he cut in and smashed a great shot from outside the box into the top left.
The Rovers continued to press and scored from a penalty in 31 minutes. Central defender Lee Graham was possibly unlucky to catch the heels of Lee Bryce after he had made a break up the left. Jamie Mackie made no mistake from the spot with a crisp execution despite Bald going the right way.
Conner Schivone fired Dunfermline`s first effort on target as his team tried to get back into the game. He displayed good individual skills but his shot went straight to keeper Ross Laidlaw and it remained 2-0 at the break.
Before the home side had got organised at the restart they found themselves another goal behind. One touch passing put Mark Whatley through and found the net from a tight angle.
At the other end Schivone broke into the box to keep Laidlaw involved with another good shot but the parried effort was cleared away by a defender. Raith extended their advantage to four in 65 minutes, Lee Bryce made the move down the right and laid the ball off for Thomas Graham to score.
Dunfermline rallied for the last 15 minutes but to no avail and got caught on the counterattack in the final minute when again Bryce advanced down the right. He beat two players, cut inside and lobbed Bald to complete the rout.
