Dunfermline started this Reserve League Cup match well going one up within five minutes.A pass wide from Jamie Mole to Paul Willis allowed the Pars midfielder to beat off the attentions of two defenders to return the ball to Mole on the edge of the box. His strong cross was controlled by Iain WILLIAMSON to drive home from six yards.
Scott Thomson`s free kick from 25 yards out was on target but Andrew Stobbie pulled off a fine save. The counterattack in nine minutes almost paid off for Paul McManus. He brushed off the challenges of Harry McGregor and Calum Woods before shooting inches wide left.
It was midway through the first half before the next shot at goal. Graeme Holmes was supplied the opportunity from another Mole delivery from the right but his low shot from the edge of the box whistled wide right.
A slick attacking move provided the second goal for the Pars in 26 minutes. From the centre circle Willis sent a through ball to Williamson and he squared it for the unmarked MOLE to drill left footed from 15 yards into the bottom right.
East Fife pulled one back seven minutes later from a disputed free kick 30 yard out on the left side. Shaun Fagan lifted the ball into far side of the six yard box and Chris TEMPLEMAN rose above the crowd to head past Reidford. Trialist Kerr headed another Fagan free kick wide as the visitors threatened just minutes later.
East Fife`s tails were certainly up and, encouraged by his bench, Robert Campbell drove up the left. He slipped the ball inside to McManus and he in turn laid the ball off for TEMPLEMAN on the far side of the box. The lanky former Par released a shot that Reidford appeared to be shepherding past his right hand post. Unfortunately the ball went in the net and the all black kitted stopper was left with his head in his hands.
Half Time: Dunfermline 2 East Fife 2
The second 45 started fairly quietly but two goals in two minutes just after the hour put the Pars back in the driving seat. The third Dunfermline goal came from a Holmes interception. He drove forward and played the ball into the path of WILLIAMSON. The East Fife team were looking for the offside flag as the Pars striker rounded the keeper to squeeze the ball in at the bottom left.
Jamie MOLE was next to strike but his shot from eight yards hit the post. Lucky for him Williamson retrieved the rebound and cut it back for his striking partner to net.
Disappointingly Paul Willis sustained a calf injury with 12 minutes to go. He limped off assisted by the physio meaning Jordan White came on and not Lee Graham who was already stripped and waiting for his moment.
Scott McBride had a chance two minutes from time when Stobbie slid out to block him but failed to take the ball but a defender was back on the line to make sure there were no more goals.
