HERIOT WATT 1 DUNFERMLINE U19s 1
On Saturday morning the U19s travelled to Riccarton to play the club that will play in the East of Scotland Premier League this season. It was another good competitive game for the under 19s and although the first half produced no goals the visitors did have the better chances.
Lewis Turner was through on the keeper after 20 minutes but screwed his shot wide. Chris Lennon managed to find the net but he was adjudged to have been offside.
Turner almost got the second half off to the best of starts; through again he was disappointed that he failed to beat the advancing keeper. In 53 minutes however Turner capitalised on a misplaced pass in midfield to travel down the right to cross to the near post for Jordan WHITE to head home from seven yards.
The East of Scotland League First Division champions then strived to get more into the game. They created a couple of opportunities but failed to test Gunn until 85th minute when they notched their equaliser. A corner from the left was not cleared satisfactorily and the ball broke to a student to slot home.
Pars coach, Hamish French, felt that his team did well against older and very fit looking opponents. "The young players matched them, defended well and maybe after two hard games against stiff opposition tired a bit towards the end."
