Reserves v Livingston
Tuesday, 5th Feb 2008Crawford, McManus and Phinn secure comfortable win
DUNFERMLINE 3 LIVINGSTON 1
An experienced Dunfermline team overran Livingston in a Reserve League Cup match played at East End Park last night.
Good attacking moves saw the Pars hit Livingston with three first half goals. Stevie Crawford headed the Pars into an eighth minute lead from an Owen Morrison cross and just six minutes later Tam McManus made it two from the Trialist`s cross.
When Nick Phinn was put through by Crawford he took his opportunity well to burst through on goal and slot into the corner of the net beyond Mark Lunn.
Livingston pulled a goal back in 28 minutes when Leigh Griffiths took the lay off from a free kick on the edge of the box to beat Sean Murdoch.
With more than an hour still to play the match was effectively finished as a contest.
Dunfermline played in all blue
McManus was twice denied by the crossbar and had a goal disallowed for illegal use of a hand.Mark Torrance had the best chance for the visitors but John McCulloch blocked well and Griffiths came close at Murdoch`s left hand post.
This was the first Dunfermline Reserve fixture since November but as well as a successful result, it was good match practice for Owen Morrison, Sol Bamba, Greg Ross and Tam McManus all of whom had missed recent matches through injury.
