U19s v Hamilton Accies
Thursday, 13th Dec 2007Five goals in young Pars 8.00pm kick off on Hamilton`s artificial surface.
HAMILTON 3 DUNFERMLINE 2
It was a young Under 19 side that was in action at New Douglas Park on Thursday night for the league match against Hamilton and it didn`t look the best of starts when they leaked a goal in 14 minutes.
From a corner on the right, Hamilton sent in a cross that the defence failed to clear adequately. This allowed the host`s Stuart MILLS to find the net from 22 yards with a low shot that took a deflection on its way through.
Next minute a beautifully placed shot from Chris LENNON got the Pars immediately back in the match. The youngster showed great composure to control Jason Hunter`s pass to the left side and beat the keeper from an angle 18 yards out, the ball going in off the far post.
In 36 minutes an interception took Mills to the right byeline and his centre forward Calum HENDRIE, turned his defender and stuck the ball past the helpless Craig Bauld from five yards.
It was an open game with Hamilton enjoying more of the play and looking the more dangerous on the break.
Half Time: Hamilton 2 Dunfermline 1
Just ten minutes into the second half the diminutive Alister CRAWFORD was fed a pass from Hendrie that put him in on the left side and he coolly net past the advancing Bauld.
The visitors hit back making it 3-2 three minutes later. A Paul Willis corner from the left was not held by keeper Gavin McLachlan and Lee GRAHAM sent a left footed lob shot into the top right.
Hendrie should have scored in 67 minutes when he gathered a defensive header on the edge of the box but Bauld did well to hold a well struck drive. The introduction of Cannon and Gordon, the final two Pars substitutes then gave the Fifers injection of effort but they found the more physical home team hard to penetrate and the equaliser just wasn`t to happen.
