Sunday, 23rd Sep 2007Scott McBride double sets up young Pars for fine win on the Alloa astroturf.
ALLOA ATHLETIC 2 DUNFERMLINE 4
Dunfermline U19`s travelled to RecreationPark, Alloa to face their equivalents in the SFL Youth League on Sunday. The impressive large and new astroturf playing surface caused the visitors a little difficulty but they soon adapted.
Dunfermline took the lead after a good cross from Charlie Bradshaw on the right in 14th minute was directed on goal by Kris Maxwell at the near post, the ball was blocked but broke for Scott McBride to finish with his right foot from eight yards.
Bradshaw increased the Pars lead five minutes later when he did well to win possession in midfield, drive forward and play a one-two off Jason Hunter on the edge of the box. That put him through on the keeper and he coolly finished.
Good play between McBride and Paul Willis allowed the latter to get to the left bye-line and cut back for Hunter to take the easy chance and make it 3-0 for the Fifers after 35 minutes.
A moment of slackness six minutes from the interval let Alloa in to get a goal back. Harry McGregor`s short pass back was intercepted by an opponent who scored from an acute angle despite Greg Paterson`s best efforts to save.
The second half got off to the best of possible starts when a free kick on the left in line with the 18 yard box was sent over by Willis for Dearden to knock back across goals and McBride headed home.
With a 4-1 lead Dunfermline settled and the game died a death. Willis had a couple of opportunities to further increase the score but failed. Three minutes from the end Alloa notched a consolation goal when a cross from their right was only half cleared and bounced kindly to be knocked home.
