DUNFERMLINE 3 HEARTS 0
Dunfermline over ran their Tynecastle counterparts with a resounding 3-0 victory at East End Park on Tuesday afternoon. The visitors suffered for the early use of their quota of substitutes and ended up playing the game out with just ten men.
Despite having used Matthew Park to replace the injured Lorcan Keeney after just half an hour, Hearts made a double substitution at half time and then when Eggert Jonsson sustained an injury soon after the restart they were left with a one man disadvantage
The game had made a slow start with few early scoring opportunities. The Pars first chance fell to Greg Ross in 14 minutes when he ran on to a pass from Mark Burchill to fire narrowly wide from 20 yards.
The offside flag stopped Iain Williamson six minutes later when Burchill had yet again sprung the Hearts defence.
Towards half time Dunfermline had plenty more chances. In 36 minutes Bobby Ryan beat a man inside his own half, to drive down the right and send over a useful ball that no one got near. Three minutes later Burchill headed a Williamson cross that Kurskis saved and just a minute later he headed a Howie cross on target and again the keeper saved.
Four minutes from the break a Scott Thomson free kick was blocked by the defensive wall and Nick Phinn despatched the rebound over the crossbar.
Dunfermline commenced the second half as they had ended the first, firmly on top. Burchill fed Ryan a chance that he hit inches wide before in 47 minutes Freddie Daquin hit a Williamson ball over from the right on the volley to open the scoring.
The lead became two goals just eight minutes later. Ryan chipped a pass to Burchill and his lay off to Ross was finished into the bottom left hand corner by the Scotland U20 internationalist as he ran into the box.
Hearts misery was compounded just two minutes later when Ross sent Ryan down the right to deliver a cross that Burchill headed in. Dunfermline, with the extra man, continued to dominate for the remainder of the match.
Labonte won the ball on half way and drove forward to put Williamson through on the keeper but Kurskis did well to close him down and block. Another good opportunity was created by sub Alan McDonough but Ross volleyed the pass wide.
