Tuesday 27th March at the Sauchie Juniors Ground

FALKIRK 0 DUNFERMLINE 2

For this SPL Reserve fixture at Sauchie Juniors ground on Tuesday afternoon Dunfermline welcomed back club captain Scott Thomson for his first competitive action since 29th April last year. The 35 year old came off twenty minutes from the end in what was a re-assuring comeback.

The game also saw Andy Tod make his first start since November and Mark Burchill gained another match under his belt in his bid to assist his team mates avert relegation in the crucial weeks ahead.  Both Toddy and Burchy proved their worth with first half goals that set the Pars up for a comfortable win.

There was not much in the way of goalmouth action until the visitors took the lead in 14 minutes. A short taken corner by Calum Smith to Jamie McCunnie was swung over for Andy TOD to rise and head home at the back post.

With Bamba and Thomson`s control at the back the team had confidence to go forward and when Bamba found Burchill in 20th minute the lay off to McCunnie was despatched inches wide.

The pressure paid off however in 32nd minute when Smith won the ball off a defender and played an early ball to Mrk BURCHILL.  The alert Pars striker spotted Jerome Lambers off his line and from 30 yards lofted the ball over the keeper and into the top corner of the net.

Dunfermline were well on top and before half time Burchill tested Lambers off a Labonte cross.  Then a good move out of defence by Smith sent a crossfield ball to Labonte on the right.  He in turn picked out Daquin and the Frenchman`s cross had to be scrambled clear by the defence.

Falkirk stopped Dunfermline playing in the second half and there were few chances at either end. Nick Phinn came closest ten minutes from time when he volleyed a Smith pass to the back post wide.
