Reserves v Motherwell

Tuesday, 24th Oct 2006

Stephen Simmons returns in draw at Fir Park.

MOTHERWELL 3 DUNFERMLINE 3

Dunfermline travelled to Fir Park for this SPL Reserve match on Tuesday afternoon and they had two early chances, both to Iain Williamson before suffering an early setback, losing a goal in 13th minute.  Adam Coakley`s ball in from the left was simply stuck away by David CLARKSON from 10 yards.

Gradually the Pars got into the game again and Andy Tod came close, heading a Stephen Simmons free kick on target but keeper Graeme Smith saved. Nick Phinn`s looping header at the end of an Owen Morrison cross in 21st minute, beat the keeper and found the net, only to be chalked off for offside.

Scott Morrison then had a long range effort saved before Owen MORRISON jinked in from the left, beat his defender and created space to score on 33 minutes.

Just three minutes in to the second half Motherwell took advantage while Andy Tod was off the park received treatment for a knee knock.  A Mark Fitzpatrick cross that was met by COAKLEY to slide passed McKenzie from six yards.

The Pars enjoyed a fair amount of possession and Simmons came close to equalising with a shot that narrowly slipped over the top. Phinn set up Williamson but his shot was cleared off the line before a great run down the left by Owen Morrison punctuated with a cut back for Freddie DAQUIN was controlled and then dispatched passed Smith.

Calum SMITH who had come on for Daquin then put the visitors into the lead.  He was grateful forJamie McCunnie and Nick Phinn`s fine play to give him a chance to send a fine right footed shot beyond the keeper from the edge of the box.

An away win looked likely until 8 minutes from the end.  Darren Smith made ground down the left to cross for COAKLEY to head past McKenzie to give Paul Hegarty`s team a point.
