Winschotten Stadium
Martin Drent 1-0: Noel Hunt 1-1:
In the pouring rain Dunfermline upped their game against the strong opposition of the Dutch Premier League side and deservedly drew the match despite having so many injuries that they had to end the game with just ten men.
Giant striker Martin DRENT put Groningen ahead before half time but Dunfermline equalised with a well taken goal. Greg Shields sent a ball up the right wing for Gary Dempsey to head into the path of Simon Donnelly who in turn released a fine ball to Derek Lyle. His delivery into the danger area was met perfectly bu Noel HUNT who glanced a headed effort past the helpless keeper.
The most pleasing aspect of the game was the quality of the defensive performance.
