Reserves v Arbroath

DUNFERMLINE 2 ARBROATH 1
Tonight`s game was a drab non-event, and the first goal was pretty much the first sign of action. With just under half an hour gone, David Graham`s lob forced a corner for the Pars, which was sent across the box to the back post where Jamie SQUIRES jumped above everyone else to head back across goal and put the Pars one up.
Pars increased their lead just two minutes later when Hamish FRENCH gathered the ball at the edge of the box, ran for goal and under pressure from a defender managed to slide it past the keeper from twelve yards.
French almost grabbed another a minute later, but sent his header inches wide.
Two minutes into the second half, David Graham attempted to get his name on the scoresheet with an ambitious long range effort, but it fell just wide
of the target.
In the fifty-sixth minute, Arbroath pulled one back when Kevin TINDAL fired in the goal of the game. His twenty-five yard screamer beat Westy and bounced in off the post.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Arbroath almost grabbed an equaliser when, after Brian Reid`s foul, a free kick from the edge of the box was deflected off the Pars wall and looped over Westy`s head, dropping just
wide.
Although McGroarty had a twenty-five yarder go just off target, the visitors had most of the pressure in the last fifteen. Unfortunately for them they were unable to puncture the buoyant Pars defence with the exception of one close-range header that Westy tipped over.
The Pars had the last chance of the game when, in the dying seconds, substitute McGarty had his thirty-yard shot tipped onto the bar. Hamish French couldn`t control the rebound quickly enough to take advantage of
Arbroath`s defensive lapse.
There were four bookings, Reid (challenge from behind) and Dolan (late tackle) for the Pars and, for Arbroath, McGlashin (kicking the ball away) and Devine (late tackle).
