Dunfermline 1 Kilmarnock 1
Sunday, 21st Sep 1997SPL:
Andy Smith (62) 1-0:
Paul Wright (pen 89) 1-1:
Summer returned to Dunfermline for this Sunday afternoon match. But having weathered an early Killie storm the game became decidedly dull. Nothing worthy of note until Andy SMITH blasted in a brilliant goal from an acute angle on the right in 62nd minute.
Killie were living up to their name with Reilly, Mitchell, McGowan, Mitchell and McPherson being yellow carded for taking no prisoners. Two misses from Allan Moore allowed them to get out of jail when Referee Mitchell awarded a soft penalty in the dying minutes. WRIGHT converted the 89th minute spot kick. Dunfermline had failed to take their chances and did not do enough to warrant three points.
