Dunfermline 2 St Mirren 0
Thursday, 21st Aug 1997Coca Cola League Cup
Hamish French (2) 1-0:
Andy Smith (47) 2-0:
Dunfermline always looked a League above the Buddies but it wasn’t until the second half that they displayed total supremacy.
Hardly had Sammy the Tammy time to find a seat but Hamish FRENCH had put the Pars ahead. Stewart Petrie crossed to find Andy Smith on the edge of the box and the Pars Ravinelli rattled in a powerful shot from 20 yards.
Dunfermline don’t wait for the half time hospitality to be drain these days Andy Smith single handedly got the better of the Saints defence and put away number two with 47 minutes on the clock
Harry Curran declined two reasonably easy second half chances and the Pars easily qualified to be in Friday night’s draw for the quarter finals.
