Young Pars reach milestone
Thursday, 17th Sep 2015The Young Pars (previously the Junior Supporters Club) are celebrating their 20th anniversary
The future of our community club rests in the hands of our younger generation of supporters, and the Young Pars is a fantastic way for our club to engage with kids at an early age.
We are pleased to announce that the Young Pars (previously the Junior Supporters Club) are celebrating their 20th anniversary.
Christine Scott, Jean Nelson and Helen Beard have been running the Young Pars from the outset, and their commitment and dedication over the last 20 years should be applauded. Helen has recently returned helping out after a short break away due to illness.
Christine took time to explain more about the Young Pars:-
“When we started we had five on the committee, now it is down to myself, Jean and Helen. Our average membership has usually been around 100 during this time but we did reach 350 one season.
"It’s a chance for children to meet their heroes up close…..we have undertaken various activities over the years – Club nights, exchange visits to other football clubs, Bowling, Adventure Golf, Football training and penalty kick competitions. Believe it or not we are now on our eleventh manager during this time!
"Our aim is to encourage children to support their local team and all the ball boys/girls are taken from the Young Pars membership, so we’ve looked after the ball boys/girls for 20 years as well!
"We’re all lifelong Pars fans and our children and now grandchildren were/are members! We have members when we took over, who have children of their own that are now members!”
Events
The first events of this current season for Young Pars members are already underway. Sammy’s Birthday Party took place on Sunday 13th September for members up to the age of 6, and a trip to the Adventure Golf Island is organised for Thursday 24th September for members over 7yrs (and our first team players will be in attendance).

How you can help the Young Pars
Ross McArthur, Managing Director, DAFC highlighted:-
“Although the Young Pars are self-funding through subscriptions, they have been very grateful to have received financial support at various times over the years from generous Pars fans. If any Pars fans would like to offer assistance to the Young Pars for our next generation of supporters I am sure they would greatly appreciate the offer.
"We do appreciate the fans of our club have contributed so much already, but a couple of sponsorship opportunities are birthday cards (£150 plus VAT) and new membership cards (£100 plus VAT). On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Christine, Jean and Helen for their sterling service over 20 years, running both the Young Pars and organising the ball boys/girls. They are yet another of our unsung heroes, who just get on with the job”
