Manager Post East Fife
Tuesday, 13th Jul 201013/07/10:- "We have got to look at ourselves because that was nowhere near good enough and I have got to apologies to the fans for that performance."
Jim McIntyre said that the performance against Stevie Crawford's East Fife was "nowhere near good enough".
"We were miles off the mark tonight and credit to East Fife I thought they were excellent. They played really well but we have got to look at ourselves because that was nowhere near good enough and I have got to apologies to the fans for that performance.
"It was so poor, we didn't pass it well and we didn't move it with any tempo. We were second best."
East Fife deployed lower league tactics to prevent Dunfermline executing their passing game but Macca felt that his team should have been up for that:-
"Yes, but we have to handle that. The bottom line is that we have good players and you have got to earn the right to play. We never did that tonight. Credit to East Fife but we had too little, too late."
Were there any positives to from the game apart from Calum Woods' goal?
"Paul Wills. I think Paul did really well when he came on. He was a bright spark, he was positive and took the game to East Fife. Any time he got the ball he tried to make something happen; his deliveries were good from corners so he for me was the positive."
Paul has been working hard in training at getting crosses into the danger areas, the Manager agreed but has noted more:-
"Yes but he has also strengthened up during the summer as well. Tonight was just a big disappointment. It is another 90 minutes for them under their belts but we have to make sure that they are a hundred times better than that when it comes to the real thing."
