Jim McIntyre Post QOS
Saturday, 26th Sep 200926/09/09: "The bottom line is that if you don't make mistakes you are still in the game. We have just created cardinal sins and they are not learning from the mistakes that they are making...
Jim McIntyre claimed that it was just blantant mistakes that let his side down against Queen of the South.
"We have to defend properly. The mistakes are killing us at the minute and we are giving ourselves mountains to climb; it happened - two against Thistle, one against Dundee and another couple today. You are just constantly shooting yourself in the foot."
Macca felt that there was no doubt about the penalty given against his side in the final minute of the first half but felt that Dunfermline should have had one as well before that:-
"I thought ours was definite as well, but the Ref has chosen not to give it. The bottom line is that if you don't make mistakes you are still in the game. We have just created cardinal sins and they are not learning from the mistakes that they are making. It is really schoolboy defending at times."
Asked whether Neil McGregor was withdrawn for letting Dennis Wyness in for the opening goal, the Pars gaffer said:-
"It wasn't just that mistake, he had a couple of other mistakes as well and the standard of play wasn't good enough. Players need to know that. We all make mistakes everyday, I make mistakes, they make mistakes but if you keep making them then it is not sinking in."
With four regular starters missing - Stephen Glass, Steven Bell, Calum Woods and David Graham - the Manager was not going to make that an excuse:-
"They didn't make mistakes, we did and that is what cost us."
Queen of the South Manager, Gordon Chisholm acknowledged that the match was won by half time:-
"We had a tremendous first half and when you are 4-1 up you certainly don't expect to lose it. It was a really great effort for the boys, it has been a pleasing week with the win last week and the win today."
Reminded that he was top of the table Chis played it down:-
"They always say that if you get there, it is harder to stay there - everyone is out to get you. That is where we want to be, that's our aim and I think once we get a full squad we will be capable of staying up there."
